<p>The ribbon tab Scan contains all actions and elements related to the current scan.</p>

<p>Stops the currently selected scan. When a scan is stopped, TreeSize will abort the current scan process but not remove it from the Directory Tree.</p>

<section id="pause-resume">
<h3>Pause/Resume<a class="headerlink" href="#pause-resume" title="Link to this heading">¶</a></h3>
<p>Pauses or resumes the currently selected scan. A paused scan can be resumed without scanning the already processed directories again.</p>

<section id="refresh">
<h3>Refresh<a class="headerlink" href="#refresh" title="Link to this heading">¶</a></h3>
<p>Refreshes the currently selected scan. The Refresh button also offers a drop-down menu providing access to more specific options:</p>
<ul class="simple">
<li><p>Refresh all scans: Using this option will trigger a full refresh for all scans of TreeSize.</p></li>
<li><p>Refresh selected folder: With this option, you can refresh the currently selected folder only.</p></li>
<li><p>Watch for file system changes: If you enable this option, TreeSize will keep track of the Windows change notifications and update the size information as well as several other information automatically. If you don’t want the size information to change after the scan has finished, you should turn off “Automatic Updates”. This option can be enabled or disabled for individual scans.</p></li>

<p>Removes the currently selected scan from the TreeSize window.</p>

<h3>Expand<a class="headerlink" href="#expand" title="Link to this heading">¶</a></h3>
<p>Using the “Expand” button, you can expand or collapse the Directory Tree to a certain directory level. You can also use this menu to trigger a “Full expand” so that you will see any folder that is available in the current scan. You can also use this menu to show only folders exceeding a certain size value.</p>

<p>Searches for a certain folder in the Directory Tree.</p>

<h3>Export<a class="headerlink" href="#export" title="Link to this heading">¶</a></h3>
<p>Export the Directory Tree, chart or list content to a file. See chapter Export submenu.</p>

<section id="exclude">
<h3>Exclude<a class="headerlink" href="#exclude" title="Link to this heading">¶</a></h3>
<p>Allows to exclude selected files/folders from the scan. Elements can be excluded temporarily for the current scan only, or permanently.</p>

<h3>Compare with saved scan<a class="headerlink" href="#compare-with-saved-scan" title="Link to this heading">¶</a></h3>
<p>Loads a saved scan from an index file and compares it with the current scan. The differences in size will be displayed as positive and negative values in the user interface.</p>

<p>Selects a Snapshot of a scanned drive to compare it with the current data. The differences in size will be displayed as positive and negative values in the user interface.</p>

<h3>Compare with path<a class="headerlink" href="#compare-with-path" title="Link to this heading">¶</a></h3>
<p>In rare cases it can be useful to compare the current scan with another path, e.g. in case that the other path is a copy or a backup of the currently displayed path. After choosing the other path using a directory picker dialog, the differences in size will be displayed as positive and negative values in the user interface.</p>

<section id="show-size-changes">
<h3>Show size changes<a class="headerlink" href="#show-size-changes" title="Link to this heading">¶</a></h3>
<p>Show size changes instead of current values in the Directory Tree. This view option can be toggled if the current scan was compared with an index file or snapshot.</p>

<h3>Schedule this scan<a class="headerlink" href="#schedule-this-scan" title="Link to this heading">¶</a></h3>
<p>Creates a scheduled Windows task for the currently active scan.</p>
